Land Rover Discovery TDV6 engine failures making headlines Land Rover Discovery 3 owners for some time now have had some worrying questions about the popular TDV6 engine used in the Land Rover Discovery 3. Sudden catastrophic engine failures linked with broken crankshafts have happened often on vehicles in South Africa, UK and Australia.
Two solve this there are two solutions, one is to replace the faulty part with a new item which is costly and the same problem can occur with time. The second solution is to clean the EGR valve and block the EGR pipework with some metal plates which stop the exhaust gasses from being recirculated into the inlet manifold.

V6 3.0 MY11. I changed mine and I can assure you you will not start it again without a bleed. I did it by placing a container under the Schrader valve and opening the valve with a small implement. Repeat this a number of times with ignition on/off cycle until the air is gone. The empty filter won t prime if you don t relieve the air pressure Go into manual mode, drop down a gear, all good. Might make the TC last a bit longer by doing this. The 3.0 SDV6 and TDV6 engine problems are the results of the engine being maintained incorrectly, which has led to many internal problems and damages. Many drivers and owners are unaware of the dangers that come with using and servicing a 3.0 engine in the wrong way which can lead to costly repairs. Here is what we are going to cover:

full of shyte, very common on a valve that has been sitting open for a prolonged period, also happens regardless etc etc. The fix for sticky or "seized" EGR valves is quite simple. The EGR has an electric motor that opens/closes it, the fix involves removing this motor. #1 Remove the very large grey power cable.
Problem started at about 240,000kms returning from Arnhem Land, initially erratic but now every 1-2kms. Also problem occurs around Perth at low speed and at high speed or cruise control. Initially got some relief of several thousand km when I started or drove in Sports Mode, but now nothing helps.
Drain the oil, add to level drive approx 10 km, drain again, fill , drive again and fill again. I have done it 3 x times and not twice. Shudder will be gone. HTML code is Off. I bought a second hand Landrover disco 3 and have been driving it for 7 months with no problem. About a couple of months ago starting it became a problem. Turning the key , the starter attempts to get the engine to kick in but to no avail. A work around was to disconnect the battery terminals for about 10-15 minutes.

Wife was coming up a hill and this happened. went back to normal and she got home ok. Codes: P22D2 - turbocharger turbine inlet valve stuck open P22CF - turbocharger turbine inlet solenoid circuit. Live data showed, as far as I can tell, the turbine inlet valve was closed. So, where is the
Sep 7, 2008. #1. When I bought my new Discovery 3, almost 3 years ago, I didn't realise that having an automatic gear box would mean that the car would choose a gear it fancies and stay in it for some time. The other week I drove from North to South and the blighter was stuck permanently in 3rd gear. I suppose it could have been worse.

Turns out Land Rover does sell a non-DPF version of the L494 in certain markets, would likely cost a fortune but I’m curious how a guy would go about getting those parts over to North America…. Another, potentially cheaper option I might look into is whether one of the many full DPF delete/turbo-back kits available for the 3.0 Powerstroke This video was done for my colleague at work, however feel free to use this video to help with your Land rover Discovery 3 not starting in the cold weather, .
